| If you are serious about an immigration application you will hire a competent
counsel to help you avoid innocent mistakes. If you choose to hire someone to
help you with your immigration application, it is important to be sure that the
person assisting you is competent and accountable.
It is a sad fact that there are two kinds of people out there that can harm you
and any application you submit to Canadian Immigration officials.
First, there are people who do not know what they are doing. Many of these
people may have good intentions. But, good intentions or not, they can do
considerable damage to a good application.
Second, there are fraud artists, promising you things that do not exist or for which
you have no chance of success - and they know what they are saying is a lie. In
Canada and most other they can be charged for at least two criminal offenses.
Consider this story of a person who was charged with two criminal offenses by
Canadian officials. He was charged with the criminal offenses of committing fraud
by acting as an immigration consultant when he was not licensed to provide legal
advice.
He was also charged with counselling applicants to lie in their applications.
The maximum sentence for such a crime is 14 years in jail. As you can see, this is
a serious offence.
There is a reason why this kind of abuse is treated as a crime. It is a manipulation
of peoples' hopes and dreams. It takes of advantage of people when they are
vulnerable, hoping for a better life for themselves and their children.
If you want help with your application, you are wise to get help from someone
who knows what they are doing. Otherwise you may find that your good
application has been ruined by someone who does not know what what they are
doing, or that you have been sold something that is worthless.
Do not pay money to someone who is not licensed as a Canadian lawyer and is
not a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC). Otherwise,
you risk losing your money and your dreams because your unlicensed counsel
was incompetent and/or dishonest.
